Full Porcelain Crowns Baton Rouge

When and why crowns are needed
- To strengthen a tooth that has had root canal therapy.
- For restoration of an area of decay too large to support a filling.
- To protect a tooth that has been fractured or broken, from experiencing further damage.
- As the finishing touch for a dental implant.
- To anchor a dental bridge in place.
- For cosmetic enhancement of a damaged, discolored, or poorly-shaped tooth.
Getting a crown
This type of full coverage restoration is completed in two visits. At the first appointment, areas of damage or decay are removed. Dr. LeJeune takes an impression of the tooth. A temporary crown is constructed and cemented. The impression, along with color preference, is sent to a certified American dental laboratory. The lab fabricates the crown from lustrous porcelain, an ideal match for natural tooth enamel. You return in a few weeks to have the interim crown removed. The tooth is disinfected with a laser, and the new crown is placed. Why choose a full porcelain crown?
No other crown material looks as natural as all porcelain. Porcelain has translucency similar to tooth structure, and reflects light like enamel. There is not even a dark line at the gum. Porcelain is strong enough for tremendous bite pressure in any area of the mouth, including back molars. These crowns resist staining. They require only normal brushing, flossing, and regular dental checkups to look terrific and last many years.Call (225) 248-8400 to learn more about full porcelain crowns from Dr. LeJeune at Cypress Dental in Baton Rouge.
